Box Score The Lazer men's lacrosse team defeated host Nassau Community College, 12-7, in the National Junior College Athletic Association National Championship Game on Sunday afternoon. The win concluded a perfect 17-0 season and was the 87th straight for the Lazers. Most significantly, it was the program's 6th consecutive National Championship, and 8th in the last 9 seasons.
The Lazers scored the game's first two goals and never trailed. Onondaga held a 5-2 halftime advantage, and an 8-6 advantage late in the 3rd quarter, but scored with 22 seconds remaining in the 3rd, starting a 4-goal run that made it 12-6. The Lazer defense also kept Nassau off the scoreboard in the final quarter until a late goal with 5 seconds remaining.
Nicholas Garbarino led the Onondaga attack with 5 goals.
Tim Barber added 2 goals and 3 assists, while
Vaughn Harris tallied 2 goals and an assist.
Parrish Young also recorded 2 goals.
Warren Hill Made 17 saves in goal.
Vaughn Harris was named the Offensive Most Valuable Player of the National Championships, while
Warren Hill was named the Defensive MVP.
Tyson Bell, Barber, Garbarino, and Young were named to the All-Tournament Team.
